Hey Solitary V Strom Riders!
There are probably enough of us to form regional clubs but I don't know of any in existence.  I'd be willing to make the effort to help form a Northeast USA club if the response makes it worthwhile.  My thought is to open it up to adventure tourers of any make (always fun to talk to a Trans Alp owner).  We'd do the usual things: put together local ride events (I've constructed a nice tour of covered bridges in Bucks County, PA), dealer-sponsored events, maybe an annual rally to a reasonably distant location with rally pins and beer-fueled lie-telling around a campfire, and someday - hold your breath -  even evolve into a national organization (dream on, Frisk Fisk).  But for now I envison an informal group, no dues, no bureaucracy, a few hard-working volunteers.  More details?  I'll  make them up as we go along with your help. I'd probably be better at doing a newsletter than being a club president, but I'd hang in there untill we reach critical mass.  I live outside of Philadelphia and can be reached at my e-mail address for this: pierre@snip.net, but posts here would generate more discussion.  Any interest?
Frisk Fisk (Jeg er frisk som en fisk.)

Not a peep from anyone?  Okay, I will withdraw the offer and slink off on my Wee Strom to the next BMW rally (I'll paint it black and glue one of my old BMW decals to it).

I missed your original post somehow.    I've no interest in being a "hard working volunteer", but let me know the next time you slink off to a BMW rally and I might come with ya, that way you won't be the only Strom there.  Grin

I also missed your original message (out of town that week).  I live about 50 miles from you, near the Delaware border, and ride mostly with the Concours Owners Group (COG) section out of Maryland.  This weekend they're doing a covered bridges of Southern Chester County ride.  I hosted a ride in April canvassing Amish, horse, and chateau country in our area.  The COG and BMW groups join several times a year

Having said all that, I'd welcome another riding group locally, for VStrom/BMW/Concours/whatever style bikes.  Its sometimes a pain to ride to Marylland or Virginia for a day ride.  I'm not lookiing for a "northeast/national" group--there's several of those.  I'd like a local group.  Sounds like there are already some good rides we could take.

I don't get it - do you NEED to join something to enjoy your bike? Roll Eyes

Go - Do - Ride - Have Fun!

By the way - I'll be at the Nat'l Beemer Rally in VT - and I will not hide my Strom under a false flag!   Grin

Take care,
Bob S.

Uwe (and Doylejj too )
The next time I'm going any distance (an over nighter or whatever, I'll look you up in Membership and use your e-mail address (if it's listed) to let you know.  But as you both probably know, there are some nice local runs in Bucks and Berks if you just want to take a smaller hop.  A club was probably a bad idea.  Redbeard is right, nobody needs to be a joiner to have fun, particularly us oddball V Strommers, but company and commonality is a plus sometimes.

That's cool.   My e-mail addy is public.    Only thing is, my schedue this summer is getting a bit crazed.   Ten days in Europe (chaperoning a school trip) end of this month,  and 4+ weeks set aside starting the end of July for this little trip on the 'Strom:

Hey Frisk you are not alone my brother! its jus that this has been a very quiet place on the forum and most members are not getting over here... but there are ways to correct that... lets plan an event... not that we need one or any kind of club but there are a bunch of us in the NE, so if you want to pick a place in PA an set a date strommers will come.

Best way to get interest is to add pics from a gathering or a group ride... I'll be watching this to see what you feel like doin'

Jorge.

If something gets planned I might be able to come this time, maybe.  I'll keep checking this thread.

Hey Jorge, how upset should I be that I missed the Gathering in May?

Spongebob, Haven't seen Jorge on for a while, so I'll answer for him. You need to kick yourself in the rear for at least 1400 miles. Just kidding, I hooked up with Jorge, Chris, and Scott, we had a great time, good fellowship, great roads, and great food. Weather could have been a little better, but in all we had a super weekend.  Jorge posted a ride report check it out here

Oky, it's two years after the last post, but.....
I'm going to try to pull together an informal ride here in Southern NH sometime in the spring / early summer. I'll be posting in a NH specific thread, but will try to get the information over to this, if I remember. I have a few things to clear up before I get started on this.

Hello all,

I currently live near Harrisburg, PA.  I have a DL1000 k2 and would be interested in meeting with other v-stromers.

Uwe, are you from Germany? I have a good friend from Germany and his name is Uwe...  He lives in York, PA.  I'm originally from Spain. Regards. JC.
