Regarding what items are swappable, I've been assured by someone I trust that the Vee battery, while taller, will still fit in the Wee and clear the seat bottom. I have a ground bus and a power bus on top of my Wee's battery so I know there is some room there.

The cables radiate in a horizontal direction from the connectors. The vertical change of about 5/8" is easily accommodated.

In "Some Important Bolt Sizes" http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,10953.0.html

Oil drain plug: 14mm bolt (M12 x 1.25) is listed and was my fault because I mis-remembered the size as 14mm. Anyhow, it only got half corrected. It should be 12mm bolt.

The Vee and Wee bolts should be listed as 14mm heads rather than 14mm bolts. I just realized what I thought was a redundant first figure is the tool size required. A 14mm head and a 12mm shank should never be referred to as a 14mm bolt.

Not here in Oz

If I go to a hardware shop and buy a 14mm bolt, I get a bolt that has a 14mm head, and that is the way it should be.  No thinking about anything.

I have never tried to buy any bolt by its width of thread, I do buy a specific pitch, but that also comes down to the specs, that is SAE, or Whitworth etc etc

So, just because it says M12, if it uses a 14mm spanner, it is a 14mm bolt

Cheers

I don't see how that is possible. There are 8mm shank bolts on a Strom that have 12mm heads and 8mm shank bolts that have 10mm heads for example.

UMMM No. Utter BS
a bolt is measured  by the diameter of the thread, then the pitch of the thread, then the length. (from bottom of head to end if it is not countersunk, overall length if it is countersunk) then what grade if it is other than normal mild steel. if it contains a plain section it is a bolt, if it is threaded to the head it is a set screw.

Bolt heads can never be used as a bolt size reference. 8mm shank bolts can commonly have 10mm, 12mm or 13mm heads for example. No matter what the head size, it's the shank size that determines the application.
