Hello, we are the manufacturers of The TailGunner top case. We have just completed mounting for the 2012 V-Strom.  We are considering making fitment for the earlier years as well. Can someone please tell me from what year to what year the OEM luggage racks are the same, and if the 650 and 1000 are the same as well?

Also if this is actually something V-Strom owners would be interested in?

The TailGunner case was meant to replace the "flying Spaceship" that is usually too much for blasting around town, or doing some off-roading.  For more info go to www.GSessories.com.

All other years of V-Stroms sold without luggage, both 650 and 1000, use the same luggage racks except for color. Only the 2012 DL650 and bikes with OEM luggage systems are different.

For all years 2001 to 2012(pre Glee model) OEM use the same rack that Greywolf posted above. 650/1000/KLV. Colours are Black or silver, but as mentioned the same rack regardless.

There is the OEM "accessory" steel top rack too. The OEM accessory top box and side rack(s) fit this.
This top rack is the same for all 2004 to 2012 (pre Glee) models. Black or silver in colour, but the same regardless.

These top racks can be confused to what I think of as the OEM rack, simply because some models were offered as a GT version and they came already supplied with the steel accessory rack from the dealer.

To simplify, we have Alloy and steel rack.

OEM accessory steel rack looks like this below, without the extension piece added to the rear.(will look for better pic)

Does that extension give the (pillion) rider more butt room or is it for another reason?
