Hey SFK Bivy bags, What do you know? I know enough to keep dry! Totally depends on a few factors. 1. Claustrophobia 2. Size and what you want. IE- something to cover the sleeping bag, or something you crawl into and sleep in like a shelter. 3. Do you want full, top and bottom or just top with denier nylon on bottom. I hate to say it, with your height, you may be hard pressed to find one with the time line you have. Check Integral designs, Cabellas has some that I know of, I'll send you a PM with some links.

Just in case here is what I PM'd for Mardaf; http://www.rei.com/product/814674/outbound-hooped-bivy-sack-special-buyhttp://www.uscav.com/search.aspx?search=bivy&tabid=548&os=1&catid=5230http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_listing.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302702909http://www.rangerjoes.com/Slumberjack-Bivy-P3151.aspxhttp://www.rangerjoes.com/Sleeping-C224.aspx?s=OrderBy%20ASC&p=1http://www.brigadeqm.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/store/level3c.tam?M2_DESC%2Ectx=Bivouac&level2%2Ectx=level2c%2Etam&BC3%2Ectx=Field%20Gear&BC4%2Ectx=Bivouac&backto=%2Fstore%2Flevel2c%2Etamhttp://www.integraltactical.com/product.cfm?id=16&CFID=1320666&CFTOKEN=94221959&mainproducttypeid=13Here are the sites that come to mind right away. If you are sleeping in a hammock, go with just a bag cover or slip over style, if you want a shelter on the ground, look at the hooped style. I hate to say it, it's totally preference. Years ago, I had one that you slid into and the hood came over your head with a bug screen. I paid $180 for it in 1991-2 and gave it away. wasn't that easy for me to get into or out of. The straight bag cover that we have in the army is fine, just annoying because you have to slide into also, just no bug protection. Would be good for a hammock though with bug netting. The hooped style I have also slept in, those are good because some have the option to sleep under the stars and not have the cover zipped up or you can be wrapped up in it and have cover from the elements. I slept in one last year in a downpour and for the most part was comfortable. Had I not set it up after the four man tent I was in collapsed due to the wind and driving rain, it would have been perfect. All are cumbersome to crawl into, it's just how cumbersome you can put up with before you snap and tear something! Here are four of the most popular styles out there; Good for keeping gear in also depending on the size you have, Only you and a sleeping bag in this, may be clothes in the bottom or as a pillow, only you and the bag with bug protection, only the bag and you, no bug protection. Keep in mind each has it's +/- and an argument can be made as to why each is better or worse!

Nice, I wonder how he'd do with a real bike? Real bike! Just take the damn training wheels off and they would all be F'd! By training wheels, I would be refering to the monstrous engine guards all the HD riders have! You can hear the scraping as he runs through this! Still needs some skills to do it without dumping it!

Speaking of real rides, according to the cops I just talked to on Jasper, these are several years overdue - just got them a couple weeks ago and they're loving them! K1200s... Quiet, nimble, and nicer than the hogs according to the two cops SO

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe they're R1200RT-P 's. Great bikes. I'm sure they're liking them compared to what they had to ride before. The last cop I spoke with said they were getting 11 or 12 of them. I'm hoping to rent one when i'm across the pond next spring.

I was in a Cabellas down in Wyoming years ago and was so astounded by the amount of gear they had I was in awe! The diorama they had dwarfed Bass Pros big time, it was complete with waterfall and everything that could be shot, fished or trapped stuffed around it!
Your reviews are a let down of what I was hoping for! Still going to visit though, they have one thing I want for my journeys away from home!

Hey all, I'm off to Nelson/Kaslo/New Denver/Vernon for the weekend so took my bike in yesterday to get the Metzeler Tourances put back on and remove the TKC knobbies. I was in a mad rush since I am leaving this morning (now) and had to have it done yesterday. Big Dan was at work and busy in the evening so I took it in to Redline and they charged me $120!!!! Never again. For that $$ it wouldn'tt be long before I could pay for a tire changer like the Edmonton guys just did. Just wanted to let everyone know so we appreciate how much $$ Big Dan saves us with his tech nights/days... I'll let you know how the ride goes - I'll be back Sunday. SS

I know it might be a hassle but any time one of our Calgary riders wants to come up to change tires, we can likely work something out.

That would probably be just the loose wheels.....2 x wheels/tires @ 30mins each + 120/hr shop rate = bent over without lube! ie. normal
