Wow, I had been away for a while, I never met him but very sad to hear about his passing.   This site was my intro to motorcycling, I learned much about vstrom maintenance and how to ride.  He always responded to what now probably sounded like really dumb questions.  I was clueless about almost all aspects of motorcycling, and his generosity with his time and money may have saved my life, who knows.  The most important lesson I received from this site is to pass the knowledge and expertise on selflessly...Take care John.

Very few people have had the effect on a group of people that John Weldon had. I seen the other day when setting up a new cell phone that I still had his old phone number in my list. Couldn't bring myself to delete it. I know IB and others were here helping with the site and deserve some applause as well. Still, John had the background, abilities, and enthusiasm that is very hard to come by. We should be thankful for what he gave here, but maybe we should also give more in that spirit ourselves.

For those who ask if there is life after death, John is still helping people here and will for years to come. I often link to his posts here when trying to help people here and in other forums.

I met John for the first time at Seneca Rocks in 2008 after buying a K2 DL1000 w/ 10K miles.  Only talked with him briefly during Gatherings each of the next 4 years.  Every time we met, I benefited from his friendly advice.  Advice that included frequenting this forum.  It all led dirctly to making the old K2 fit me.  It is a joy to ride whenever I can.

Fair to say, John is on-board in some fashion whenever I ride or visit this forum.  A valuable legacy shared with thousands of V-Strom riders.
